Process

To keep transparency on the reviewing process we look for and make our own decision-making process based on the following:

  • Professionalism - We look at the quality of image representation and consistency of artists website and social media platforms. For writers, we look for consistent grammar and punctuation throughout the written works submitted as well as cohesive storytelling.

  • Artist Statements, Artist Bio, CV and Proposals - we look for engaging and well written statements that explain your process and why your work fits into the theme of the current issue. Remember, your biography and artist statement are not the same. Biographies should clearly outline who you are, your history, and most recent accomplishments. And finally your CV/resume should show your exhibition/publication history, awards or scholarships (if relevant), and administrative experience (if relevant).

  • Selection - We select 6 artists and 6 writers per issue. If you are a writer, we will select one or multiple short stories based on length of text. If you are a poet, and have been selected, then all 5 poems submitted will be featured in our publication. Artists, if you are selected, then all 5 images submitted will be featured in our publications.

  • Visit our Artist Resource page on how to write an artist statement, CV, and more!
